Fishing License Requirements
All the fishing spots around Lathrop are on public land, which means you’ll need a fishing license to fish there and anywhere in California. Anyone over the age of 16 must purchase a fishing license online or from an authorized retailer.
A basic license is needed for shore fishing, while an advanced license is needed for boat and night fishing. Depending on the season, you may need to purchase additional permits to catch salmon or steelhead trout.
The only exception would be any fishing spots on private land.
